Dissemination Workshop on Monitoring Exercise for all MMDAs in the Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Council (ARCC) on Tuesday May 31, 2022, held a dissemination workshop for MMDAs in the Region.

The Ashanti Regional Co-ordinating Director, Mrs. Emelia Ayebeng Botchway, speaking on behalf of the Ashanti Regional Minister Hon Simon Osei- Mensah indicated that dissemination of monitoring reports is important since it gives the opportunity for pertinent issues, shortfalls, as well as best practices to be discussed with the view to better the performance of MMDAs in subsequent quarterly monitoring exercises.

She indicated that, resources, all over the world are scarce and never enough for humanity. Therefore, ‘it is of utmost importance that we diligently, make judicious use of what we have available, to the benefit of all. It is for this reason that, the Local Government Service (LGS) established by the Local Government Act, 2016 (Act 936) exists to support Local Government to deliver value for money services through the Mobilization, harmonization and utilization of qualified human capacity and material resources available, to promote local and national development’. She added that, this opportunity given must be attached with the needed attention to core values of professionalism, integrity and commitment in the discharge of their responsibilities as duty bearers.

The Ashanti Regional Director of Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority, Mrs Ama Kyerewaa Atakora gave a vivid Presentation on Monitoring Exercise on the issues raised in the report from the second monitoring exercise, conducted by the officials of the Land Use and Spatial Planning Authority.

In attendance at the workshop are the Regional Heads of Departments and Units, Metropolitan/ Municipal and District Chief Executives and their Co-ordinating Directors, Metropolitan/ Municipal and District Heads of Departments or Units and many others.

There was an open forum where a number of questions were raised and answer given. The one-day workshop gave room for discussions centered on the shortcomings, learning of lessons from best practices to ensure enhance service delivery of all MDA’s within the Region.
