Wednesday, August 17, 2022: The Head of the Local Government Service, Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has advised the Regional Coordinating Directors (RCDs) and the Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs) to implement effective records management systems in their various Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) and Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs).
He made the call during the second of a series of trainings for selected staff of the Local Government Service at the Coconut Groove Hotel in Accra on records management.
The Head of Service said effective records management is key component of good governance, transparency, and accountability, which are requirements for MMDAs to deliver improved services to the citizenry. He urged them to be meticulous in handling correspondence and to ensure they are responded to timeously.
He indicated that the records office would be restructured in the near future to respond to the changing trends. He implored the RCDs and MMDCEs to lead their support to the reforms and ensure good records management at all levels of the service.
The other series of training will be organised in the Western and Central Regions.
