The Government-for-the-People Forum (G4P) has taken place in the Ashanti region of Ghana with the theme “Changing Lives, Transforming Ghana”. The forum aims to bring governance closer to the people by providing an opportunity for government functionaries, including Ministers, Members of Parliament, and Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), to interact with the public on important national issues affecting their lives and the progress of the nation.
The forum is part of a series of public fora initiated by the government to inform the public about projects, programmes, and activities being undertaken by the various Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) of government, as well as the MMDAs, to bring about improvements in the lives of the people. The media is also given the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarifications on national issues, while the public is given the chance to interface with government and its agencies on activities being done in furtherance of changing lives and transforming Ghana.
The forum is in line with the government’s commitment to democratic discourse and its people-centered Social Democratic credentials. It is also an opportunity to set the record straight on the development efforts of the government, which some people tend to give the wrong and limited impression about. The government aims to provide answers to questions asked and take suggestions and comments to shape and chart workable courses of action to accelerate the development of the country for the benefit of corporate Ghana.
