‘GOVERNMENT’S INTERVENTION WITHIN THE JUDICIARY AND THE SECURITY SECTORS IN THE ASHANTI REGION IS UNPRECEDENTED’: ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER

There have been unprecedented interventions in both the Judiciary and the Security setup within the Ashanti Region since January 2017. These were noted by the Ashanti Regional Minister during a press briefing section focused on development within the Judiciary and the Security sectors in the Ashanti Region on 18th March 2024.

The event which was also patronised by interest groups within the Regional capital also saw the presence of members of the Regional Security Council.

According to the Regional Minister, over 59 projects have been initiated from January 2017 to December 2023 for the Judiciary within the Region. Out of the initiated projects over 48 have been completed. These projects involve residential accommodation for judges and courthouses.

Projecting evidence of the projects to the gathering, he added that addresses of the projects have been added for easy verification.

Witin the Security sector, Hon. Simon Osei-Mensah noted that besides the military, the government has supplied over 181 vehicles and 384 motorbikes to security agencies within the Region with over 5108 additional human resources to augment the various security agencies within the Region excluding the military.

‘Resourcing the Security has resulted in the significant improvement in the Security situation within the Region’, he added.

According to the Regional Minister, Security threats such as the cattle herds menace in Agogo, highway robberies, illegal mining and logging have been brought under control to a larger extent.
