Accra: Friday November 25, 2022: The Head of the Local Government Service (LGS), Ing. Dr. Nana Ato Arthur has urged Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs) to regularly organise health screening and checkups for staff of the LGS.
The Head of Service believes that regular medical check-ups will afford the staff the opportunity to know their health status and hidden medical conditions to seek immediate medical solutions. He said a healthy workforce increases productivity and contributes immensely to economic growth to the country. He urged staff of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) to regularly go for medical checks.
Dr. Arthur made the remarks during a one – day medical screening exercise for staff of the OHLGS in Accra on Friday, November 25, 2022. The screening exercise was a collaboration between the OHLGS and the National Association of Public Health Administration and supported by the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (NAPHS-GIMPA).
Members of staff were screened on Diabetes, Malaria, Prostate Cancer Breast Cancer, eye problem and general Body Mass Index (BMI).
Staff expressed their appreciation to management of the Service for organising the medical screening for them and urged management to periodically conduct such an important exercise for the staff.
