Ho-Friday, August 12, 2022: The Office of the Head of the Local Government Service (OHLGS) in collaboration with the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) have started the of first a series of four Training of Trainers programme on effective records management for selected staff of the Local Government Service (LGS).
The training session which was conducted in partnership with Public Sector Accounting Standards (IPSAS) trained selected staff of the Regional Coordinating Councils (RCCs) on the new Records Management Manual developed for the LGS. The manual was developed with the objective to improve records management capacity across the service.
The first of the training was held in Ho from Monday, August 8 to Friday, August 12, 2022, for selected staff from the Volta, Oti, and Eastern Regional Coordinating Councils.
In a brief address, the Director of Administration at the OHLGS, Ms. Golda Asante said that effective and efficient records management is crucial to public administration and the ease of access to information is imperative for decision making and service delivery. She admonished the Officers to study the new Records Management Manual for deeper understanding in order to impart the acquired knowledge to their Records Officers.
Additionally, she said knowledge acquired by the Officers must be applied to improve the existing procedures of records management and, to facilitate documentation and easy retrieval of access information.
The other series of training will be organised in the Greater Accra, Central, and Western Regions respectively.
